How to Use Your Redeem Beam: The Complete Red Light Therapy User Guide

Everything you need to know about charging, operating, and getting started with your portable red and near-infrared light panel.

Welcome to Redeem Recover!

Whether this is your first red light therapy device or you’re adding something more portable to your routine, the Redeem Beam was designed to make light therapy simple and accessible.

With 90 LEDs, two complementary wavelengths, a rechargeable battery, and a built-in 10-minute timer, your Redeem Beam makes it easy to incorporate light therapy into your day.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Getting to Know Your Redeem Beam

Your panel combines two wavelengths commonly used in photobiomodulation research:

660 nm β€” Red Light

Visible red light is commonly studied for its effects on the skin, including appearance, texture, and collagen-related processes.

850 nm β€” Near-Infrared Light

Near-infrared light penetrates tissue differently from visible red light and has been studied for potential applications involving muscles, joints, and exercise recovery.

Both wavelengths work together in the Redeem Beam, giving you dual-spectrum light in one compact device.

Step 1: Charge Your Redeem Beam

Before your first session:

  1. Connect the included USB-C charging cable to the panel.
  2. Connect the cable to a compatible USB power source.
  3. Allow approximately 60 minutes for a full charge.

A fully charged panel provides up to approximately 80 minutes of operation, depending on settings and battery condition.

Keep the device dry while charging.

Step 2: Prepare for Your Session

Choose the area you want to expose to the light.

For best results:

  • Start with clean, dry skin.
  • Find a comfortable seated or reclining position.
  • Position the panel on a stable surface or compatible stand.

No conductive gel or special serum is required.

Step 3: Position Your Panel

For general use, position the Redeem Beam approximately 8–12 inches (20–30 cm) from the area you’re targeting.

Keep the LEDs directed toward the exposed skin.

Avoid pressing the illuminated panel directly against your skin unless the manufacturer’s instructions specifically permit contact use.

Step 4: Turn On Your Redeem Beam

Use the power button to activate your device.

Your panel includes 660 nm visible red light and 850 nm near-infrared light.Β

Begin at a comfortable setting, particularly if this is your first experience with red light therapy.

Important: Some near-infrared LEDs may appear dim or unlit because 850 nm light is largely invisible to the human eye. This is normal.

Step 5: Start Your 10-Minute Session

The Redeem Beam features a 10-minute automatic shutoff timer.

For your first few sessions, begin with approximately 5 minutes to assess comfort.

As you become accustomed to the device, you can work toward a full 10-minute session, provided it remains comfortable and consistent with the manufacturer’s guidance.

When the timer completes, the panel shuts off automatically.

There is no need to extend your session simply because you don’t feel heat. Red light therapy does not need to feel hot to deliver light.

Step 6: After Your Session

Turn off the panel if it hasn’t already shut down.

Allow it to cool before storing it. Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth as needed.

Keep the device in a clean, dry location away from excessive heat and moisture.

Suggested Redeem Beam Routines

Face and Neck

Avoid looking directly into the illuminated LEDs or use suitable eye protection. The 660 nm wavelength is commonly investigated for skin appearance and texture.

Shoulders and Upper Back

Position the panel toward the desired area, maintaining the recommended distance. A comfortable 5–10-minute session can be incorporated into your post-activity wellness routine.

Arms and Legs

Treat one area at a time. Reposition the panel as needed for different areas rather than increasing exposure indefinitely on one spot.

Evening Wind-Down

Your Redeem Beam can become part of a quiet evening routine. Unlike a dim red night-light, however, this is an active light therapy panel, avoid direct viewing of the LEDs.

What the Testing Actually Shows

One of the most important things to understand about a red light device is that wavelength alone doesn’t tell the whole story.

Light intensity matters, too.

What is irradiance?

Irradiance measures the amount of light power delivered to a given area, expressed in milliwatts per square centimeter (mW/cmΒ²).

The amount of light reaching your skin changes depending on how far away the panel is positioned, the intensity setting, and the length of your session.

This is why consistency and appropriate positioning are more important than simply using the panel for longer periods.

How Often Should You Use Your Redeem Beam?

Start with a few sessions per week and follow the recommended exposure limits.

The appropriate frequency depends on the area, your individual response, and the amount of light delivered.

Red light therapy research uses different protocols for different applications, so there is no single schedule guaranteed to produce results for everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do some LEDs look like they aren’t working?

The Redeem Beam uses both visible red and near-infrared light. Near-infrared light at 850 nm is largely invisible, so some LEDs may appear dim even when operating normally.

Can I use the Redeem Beam on my face?

Yes, facial use is one intended application. Always protect your eyes and follow the recommended distance and exposure guidance.

Do I need to use a serum or gel?

No. Red light therapy does not require conductive gel. Clean, dry skin is a simple starting point.

Can I use it for more than 10 minutes?

The Redeem Beam automatically shuts off after 10 minutes. Do not repeatedly restart the device to increase exposure on the same area without appropriate dose guidance.

Will I feel heat?

You may notice mild warmth, but significant heat is not required. Stop using the panel if it becomes uncomfortable.

How soon will I see results?

Results vary by individual, intended application, and treatment protocol. Studies of some skin-related applications assess changes over several weeks, but no specific outcome or timeline is guaranteed.

Can I travel with it?

Yes. Its compact, rechargeable design makes it convenient for travel. Follow airline rules for lithium-battery devices and protect the panel from damage.

Important Safety Information

  • Never stare directly into the LEDs.
  • Wear suitable protective eyewear, particularly for facial sessions.
  • Do not use it on irritated or damaged skin without professional advice.
  • Consult a healthcare professional if you have a photosensitive condition, take photosensitizing medication, or are undergoing treatment for a serious medical condition.
  • Stop use if you experience discomfort, unusual redness, headache, or visual symptoms.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

From the Founder’s Journal

I’ve spent a lot of time exploring different wellness modalities, and one thing I’ve learned is that a routine doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful.

In fact, the simpler it is, the more likely I am to stick with it.

That’s one of the reasons I appreciate portable devices like the Redeem Beam.

Ten minutes. No appointment. No complicated setup.

Just a small addition to a routine that already exists.

And sometimes, those are the habits that last.
